Mechel has signed contracts for the supply of coal in 2009 with companies from China, Japan and South Korea

OJSC Mechel has signed a series of contracts for the supply of coking and steam coal to the Chinese, Japanese and South Korean companies in 2009.

Mechel continues to work to expand the geography of coal sales. Having a positive long-term experience of supply of coal to Japan and South Korea, in 2009 the company was also on the carbon market of China, concluded a number of major new contracts with local consumers, said the company.

The company has already begun in China to supply coking coal concentrate production Yakutuglya, as well as various brands of energy coal. Total for 2009 financial year with the Chinese, Japanese and South Korean companies for the time being awarded the contract for the supply of about 2 million tonnes of coking coal concentrate production Yakutuglya and 2.3 million tonnes of energy coal production marks Yakutuglya and Southern Kuzbass.

Also in 2007, Mechel is selling to China, iron ore concentrate, which is produced in the group Korshunovskom GOKe.
