The meeting participants discussed the results of environmental activities of Gazprom in 2008. It was noted that the overall environmental impact of the subsidiaries of Gazprom last year, has stabilized. In particular, emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere was less than 40% of the allowed amount.
The main directions of improving environmental performance in the current year has been described as reducing methane emissions into the atmosphere and increase the proportion of waste involved in recycling. Particular attention will be given to intensify the training of personnel (both managers and professionals) in the field of environmental management and environmental protection.
At the meeting of the Coordinating Committee reviewed the results of the implementation of energy conservation program of Gazprom for the period 2007 - 2010 biennium. in 2008. The meeting participants discussed a proposal related to an increase in the proportion of utilization of associated petroleum gas (PNG) in group Gazprom to 2020 and beyond to 2030. It was emphasized that during the period from 2007 to 2008 the proportion of the use of SSG in the group Gazprom (including Gazprom oil) has increased from 49,5% to 57,8%. The amount of investment required to implement a set of measures to increase utilization of PNG on the fields of Gazprom for the period until 2012 is estimated at 27.7 billion rubles. These investments will help increase the proportion of recycling SSG up to 95%.
The meeting had been given appropriate instructions to maximize the timely and effective implementation of environmental protection measures.
