RUIE denied information about a possible ban Skype in Russia

21 July RUIE Commission Meeting on Telecommunications and Information Technology to discuss the development and management of IP-telephony in Russia.

The main reason for discussion was the lack of standards in the Russian law on the regulation of operating companies that provide services to VoIP (Voice over IP). Thus, the majority of telecommunications services remains in the shadows and has no quality control of services, and state control, and does not guarantee the security of information exchange, - commented on the situation, Vice-President of the Company TransTeleCom (TTK), Anatoliy Zemtsov.

As a result of meeting of the commission RUIE, it was decided to establish a working group which will consider the possibility of preparing a proposal to improve the regulatory framework for the industry IP-telephony.

At the end of the group, headed by Vice-President of CPD, to be put forward specific proposals for modification of the law On communication. Recommendations to improve the legal framework should be formulated before 20 September 2009.

However, the meeting denied the information on a possible ban Skype and similar programs, clients, which appeared in the media the day before. Thatany bans during the commission meeting and the proposal was not this kind of working group have not been made, - the official report CPD.
