The EU will next year invest in Crimea, about 12 million euros

European Union is developing an investment plan A joint initiative of cooperation in the Crimea, on which region in the coming year will approximately EUR12 million, said Director of Directorate E for Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus and Central Asia of the Directorate General for External intercourse Gunnar Wiegand of the European Commission during a meeting with First Vice-premier of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov and the ambassadors of EU member states, accredited in Ukraine, the press office of first vice-premier.

We predict that in the spring of next year, this plan will be adopted, - said G. Wiegand.

According to Director of Directorate E for Eastern Europe, the Crimea - a special district, which has great potential not only for Ukraine but also for the whole of Europe.

In turn, Turchin recalled that in August this year the Government adopted a state program of social development of the Crimea until 2017. It aims to establish mechanisms for implementing the program Cooperation Initiative in the Crimea.

The development of this region will contribute not only to the development of the Crimea, and the whole of Ukraine, - said Turchin, noting that the program would be a step in the approximation of Ukraine to the European Union.

idea of the initiative is to ensure that every Member State concerned, the EU fix a definite direction of development of the Crimea. In particular, the United Kingdom will be responsible for economic development, Sweden - environmental protection, Netherlands - civil society. Currently, the initiative brings Finland, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, the UK and Lithuania. His intention to join the initiative also reaffirmed Estonia.

According to the draft National Indicative Program of the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument for the years 2011-2013 in Ukraine, in the Crimea as a pilot region is planned to develop a regional strategy and to create a Regional Development Agency.

Financing joint initiative is expected not only at the expense of the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI), but also by individual contributions from interested EU Member States and third parties (in particular, international financial institutions).
