The Commission has decided to organize a second meeting with Ukraine and Russia, the Commission and the IFIs in this Friday afternoon at the first meeting of a similar format: first bilateral meeting with the MFO, then - with the Ukraine, then - to Russia. We intend to consider the response Premier Yulia Tymoshenko in more detail - and this is the reason for the meeting on Friday, then watch the reaction of MFIs with respect to medium-term assistance, - he said.

M. Gray noted that since the last meeting on 29 June with the Ukrainian authorities, as well as with financial institutions was held extensive contacts. The EC representative also recalled that Naftogaz Ukraine to pay for gas the Russian side on 6 July.

In addition, the M. Gray said that the Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko 'wrote to the Commission that the Ukrainian authorities have begun to implement reforms that they intend to carry out in Ukraine in light of the request the Commission and international financial institutions.

Speaking about the conditions for granting assistance to the Ukrainian side, M. Gray noted that this reform program for the gas sector of Ukraine, which includes a number of different elements, the short and medium term, the relevant international conferences, held in March.

M. Gray also informed that the EC President Jose Manuel Barroso, in a letter to the prime minister of Russia Vladimir Putin called for, inter alia, to find a solution for short-term payments for the Ukrainian side.

As reported, the first meeting of the European Commission issued a statement which said that continued support for facilitating the procurement of gas, will depend on the continuation of reforms in the gas sector and is in addition to financial assistance, which the IMF has in the program support for the Ukrainian economy.
